Margaret Mutu (Ngati Scottish), (Ngati Kahu)
Margaret Mutu is currently Professor of Maori Studies at Auckland University
And yet she is also an actvist. Is this a clash of interests?
When she is interviewed she often makes contradictory statements.
Along with many other activists she currently claims that Maori did not cede soverignty.
Yet Maori (and all other New Zealanders) have lived under the New Zealand Government since the chiefs signed the treaty in 1840
Surely a university professor's job is to impart true history to their students
And her latest catchphrase is that "The idea that 100,000 maori would cede their sovereignty to Governor Hobson and 3 armed policemen and some missionaries is plainly ludicrious"
The fact is that they did - so her argument is in itself plainly ludicrous!
